What is a Convenience Fee

You can charge a convenience fee on your invoices with Detail Bookie.

A percentage fee will be calculated for the entire amount charged on the invoice, excluding sales tax.  For example:

Interior Package

$50.00

Exterior Package

$50.00

Convenience Fee @ $100 x 4%

$4.00

Sales Tax @ $104 x 10%

$1.04

Invoice Total

105.04

Credit and debit card convenience fee rules may vary by state, regulatory body, or card network rules.

Detail Bookie provides the mechanism to add this charge to your invoice, but can not be responsible for your choice to use, or not use, the convenience fee feature, and what percentage to charge.

Please touch base with a tax professional or your local government for further guidance on whether convenience fees are permitted in your area, when you are allowed to charge them, and how much you can charge.

Tax Considerations

Generally, convenience fees are considered taxable income. We calculate the convenience fee before sales tax.  Therefore, sales taxes are not charged the convenience fee.

You may wish to consider this when setting the percentage rate for your convenience fee. Please touch base with a tax professional for further guidance.
